Kirsten,
1) you spend way too much time on the computer. I think your chickens may feel neglected.
2)keeping score only leads to tears.
3)when the nertz pile is face up, my family will cheat.
4)Nutsy the Squirrel, meet Boomer the Shotgun. (’tis the season!)
You need to use your computer time for something useful, like playing online Settlers!

Oh, this is bad. Real bad! I just found an free, online version of Nertz! This could lead to countless hours of playing in the middle of the night. The best part? You play against Nutsy the Squirrel and his family!

In looking up rules for the game, I found these: Nertz.com and (I’m not kidding here) The National Nertz Association (playnertz.com). Subsequently, I found a few things that were different in how we play.

1) “After all thirteen Nertz Pile cards are dealt, the complete Nertz Pile is turned face up.”

2) “A designated player will separate the cards from the Common Scoring Area into decks played by each team. Subtract the number of your team’s unplayed Nertz cards, times two, from your total of your cards played to the Common Scoring Area. This is your score for the hand. A minus score is possible. Add your score on a score pad, and play sufficient hands until one team reaches 100 points.”

Dare I try to change an established Zoellner game? I’m going to opt for a strong “no.”

Ooooh! I never heard the stories about this one. I’ll have to ask Joel.

I second the greatness that is the Rainbow Resource catalog. It’s nearly impossible to read because all of your time is spent writing down the name, page, and item number of the items you see! Well, that and the fact that it’s huge!
